The Oxygen Publishing Engine is a commercial licensed command-line tool based on the DITA Open Toolkit. This means that instead of publishing directly from Oxygen XML Editor, you can use an integration server to run the transformations and publish the output or simply use it from a command-line interface.
Possible ways to run the Oxygen Publishing Engine on the server side:
Features of the Oxygen Publishing Engine:
- Publishing WebHelp Responsive Output
- The WebHelp Responsive system features a very flexible layout and is designed to adapt to any device and screen size to provide an optimal viewing and interaction experience. It is based upon the Bootstrap responsive front-end framework and is available for DITA document types.
- Publishing PDF based on CSS
- You can use the same Publishing Templates to build both the WebHelp and PDF outputs. The Oxygen Styles Basket allows you to build a base publishing template visual customization based on CSS, and this customization can later be used to produce the outputs.
- Publishing to Zendesk
- The Enterprise edition of the license allows you to publish DITA XML content directly as Zendesk articles.
- Change Tracking and Comments in the Published Output
- You can enable a parameter to show Oxygen tracked changes and comments in the generated WebHelp and PDF outputs.
- Syntax Highlight inside Code Blocks
- Syntax highlights of code blocks in the WebHelp and PDF outputs.
- Embedding Media Video/Audio Resources
- Embed video and audio resources in the published WebHelp and PDF outputs.
- DITA Metrics Report
- Build statistics and metrics for a DITA XML project.
- Dynamic Word/Excel/OpenAPI/Makdown to DITA Conversions
- Dynamically convert Word/Excel/OpenAPI and Markdown files referenced in the DITA Map to DITA XML content while publishing.
- Add Edit Links to Published Output
- Add edit links for each published topic, connecting the published output to an online editor for providing feedback.
